Bathing with a dog
In the heat of summer, there’s nothing better than cooling off in the refreshing waters of the lakes. There are bathing spots in the region where dogs are also very welcome. Here you’ll find the best places for your four-legged friend:
- Lake Ossiacher See: The ZIS Lauritsch lido has its own separate dog bathing beach with direct access to the lake. Dogs must be kept on a lead on the neighbouring sunbathing lawn
- Lake Faaker See: Faaker See is a true natural gem. To preserve its unique water quality, we ask that you do not allow dogs to swim in the lake. Further information can be found at mein-see.at
- Lake Silbersee: Dogs are permitted on the western shore of the lake in a designated dog area.
- Dogs are also allowed to swim in the Gail and Drau rivers

Event highlight 2026: Celebrate the friendship between humans and dogs! The Fellival Dog Festival takes place as part of the Gates of Summer at Lake Faaker See and is the perfect meeting place for people to exchange ideas, get active together and discover new things.
