During more than 40 years of creativity, Elli Riehl, a native of Villach, created hundreds of enchanting dolls which have delighted many over the years. Till her death in 1977, Elli Riehl lived in what is today the museum of the Family Berger. Already in 1973, she started a small doll museum in her apartment.
Since then much has happened. In the years 1990 – 1999 the museum was enlarged and renovated, and this is why we now have a modern World of Dolls on two floors. In addition to the around 700 exhibited dolls, which include women, men, children, angels and mythical creatures, the permanent exhibition reflects on the life of the dollmaker and shows the tools with which she worked. The museum is not only an attraction for children, it also enthuses grown-up visitors. The Ellie Riehl World of Dolls opens in May, daily from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 – 17:00. From June 1st to October 6th, the museum is open from 09:00 – 18:00. With a KärntenCARD entry is free of charge. Further information regarding prices and a visit to the museum is on the website of the museum.
