When even Reinhold Messner, the most famous mountaineer in the world, describes the circumvention of a fascinating mountain as probably the strongest hiking experience, we should calmly follow his recommendation. 

The short long-distance trail in the south of Austria offers everything that a mountain circumvention promises in this sense. The five stages lead through times of former burial mounds, drainage tunnels and privies, connect places of famous art and former monastic life, pass through bizarre rockfall landscapes and guide along old Roman roads. At the intersection of three cultures, the Dobratsch Runde also gains an unprecedented forward-looking character with its cross-border aspect.
