Sassler Circuit

A round-trip tour high above Bodensdorf with beautiful views of Lake Ossiach.

Take trail no. 40 from the tourist information on 10.-Oktober-Strasse past the church and turn right at the fire station. At the junction at the shrine, keep left and follow the St. Josefs-Strasse. At the next intersection in the forest you leave the path (no. 40) and turn left and cross a small brook - on the right hand side you will see the pilgrimage church of St. Josef. From there you continue along St. Josefs-Strasse . After 200m you cross a small brook again and turn into the Leitenweg (downhill) on trail no. 42. After several bends, you pass the farm called "Schönberger" . Then you reach a junction and turn onto trail no. 3. Follow this trail through the "Rautniggraben" (a small trench) to the "Rautnigwiesen" (a big meadow) to Winkl-Ossiachberg . From there you have a wonderful view of the lake . Now you walk over beautiful meadows going slightly downhill , passing a single farm next to the trench. After the crossing you will reach Kathrin 's Buschensschenke (a small tavern) . Here trail no. 43 branches off downhill , which you have to follow to Unterberg . Near this small village you can admire the "Klebensteiner Wasserfall" (a waterfall), situated on the right hand side of the track. In Unterberg you need to keep to the right and get back to Bodensdorf.

You can take the train to the station in Bodensdorf. From there its only a short walk to the Bodensdorf Tourist Information Center.
