Steindorf

Steindorf has a "monstrosity"

But not to fear. The "stone house" of the deceased star architect Günther Domenig is only called this endearingly. After around twenty years of building time, the opus magnum of the famous architect is a landmark and sight that fascinates tourists and architecture enthusiasts alike.

The Steindorf community with 3725 inhabitants lies on the northern shore of Ossiacher See, about eight kilometres from Feldkirchen, between Gerlitzen Alpe and the Ossiacher Tauern. It is therefore the perfect starting point for a wonderful holiday amidst mountains and the lake. Beachtime is the name of the game at the lakeside facility in Bodensdorf: swimming fun and well-being on 10,000 square metres. Water temperature? In summer up to 26 degrees.
There is a 27-kilometre cycle path all around Ossiacher See, with wonderful panoramic views of the lake and mountains. You prefer to lace up your hiking boots? Then 70 kilometres of hiking paths in and around Steindorf will entice you. You can go high up onto
Gerlitzen Alpe – the Carinthian recreational mountain. Here you can find not only a hiking, paragliding and leisure paradise, but also the most beautiful panorama in the region. With grandiose circuits, cosy chalets, exciting Nordic walking trails and speedy descents with the mountain go-kart track (Pistenflitzer) as a bonus. Simply glide up with the Kanzelbahn and Gipfelbahn cable car and chairlift.
Unique in Steindorf: the great hotel facilities. You only need to choose: exciting art hotel, relaxing wellness hotel, idyllic hotel by the lake, family-run guesthouses...
