The Mushroom Museum near Lake Ossiach is truly unique, because it has the largest collection of Austrian and foreign mushroom examples in all of Europe. Discover why mushrooms are so important for our living environment, how to differentiate between poisonous and edible varieties and how to decide when a mushroom is inedible.
Visitors can experience much more though. Test your knowledge about mushrooms in the interactive play boxes, learn about science you can touch, and in the Fantasy Forest you will be fascinated by nocturnal thunder storms and algae containing phosphorus. Discover sparkling rock crystals and amethysts, be frightened by a huge spider and learn much more from the short video presentations.
A fantastic experience for the whole family and with a KärntenCARD it’s even free of charge.
You can visit the Mushroom Museum from 12th May to 13th October, from 10:00 to 17:00. On Wednesdays it’s closed!
