Lake Afritz

A charming natural swimming lake

Sublime relaxation – for body and soul – with the backdrop of the Nock mountain range. Due to the Adriatic summer climate here in the south of Austria, the lake, which is 340 m wide and 22 m deep, warms up to 26 degrees Celsius. In line with all the other swimming lakes in Carinthia, Lake Afritz offers swimming fun in crystal clear water which is of drinking water quality.
In both public swimming beach facilities, Strandbad Friessner and Strandbad Fischerhof Glinzner, there is a boat hire. Explore the whole lake by boat! But you must use your muscles for propulsion, as there are no motorboats allowed on the lake. This is why it is so wonderfully peaceful. Once you have completed your relaxing and swimming, you can walk around the 3.5 km long idyllic promenade. You will not encounter any motorised vehicles! Not only water rats and mermaids enjoy the crystal-clear water, the lake is also well known among sport and hobby anglers, who enjoy fishing from the shore. You can catch large pike, bass, tench, chub fish and even eels or catfish and trout.
