Ossiacher Tauern Tour short Version (roadcycle)

Discover the stunning landscape of Carinthia on this varied road bike tour, which begins in the picturesque town of Ossiach on the shores of Lake Ossiach. This route offers an ideal mix of athletic challenge and scenic enjoyment.

Suitable road bike, tools and safety equipment, helmet, sufficient fluids.

Starting from Ossiach, head east along the southern shore road until you reach the town of Klachl. In Klachl, turn right onto the Schwarze Straße. At the small village of Höfling, near a wayside shrine, turn right and head up to Glanhofen. This is a short but steep climb. In Glanhofen, turn right onto a lightly trafficked main road towards St. Nikolai. Follow this road for several kilometers until you reach the highest point and then descend southward into the town of Köstenberg.

From Köstenberg, follow the main road through the towns of Stallhofen and Damtschach until you reach Wernberg. In Wernberg, briefly turn right onto the main road and follow it until you reach the turnoff for the Fruhmann restaurant. Here, take a quick right, pass under an underpass, and then turn right again. Continue on the side road to Zauchen. Turn right here and continue straight to Landskron, where you will turn right at a traffic light to follow the road back to your starting point in Ossiach.
