The top 6 places along the Alpe Adria Trail

The most beautiful places on the Alpe-Adria Trail from Lake Ossiach to the Adriatic Sea by Chris Pölzl

The Alpe-Adria Trail takes its hikers from the imposing Grossglockner in Carinthia to the Adriatic coast in Italy. In a total of 43 stages and around 750 kilometres, the long-distance hiking trail passes through the three countries of Austria, Slovenia and Italy and through three varied regions. The Alpe-Adria Trail is now one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails.

Stift Ossiach
Chris' Alpe-Adria-Trail hike started at Lake Ossiach with a beautiful view of the Ossiach Abbey.

Tauern Pond
High above Lake Ossiach, the Tauern Pond is a very special place. In the immediate vicinity is the “Jungfernsprung”, a great viewing point with a beautiful view of Lake Ossiach and the Gerlitzen Alp.

Sternberg
From the small church on the Sternberg near Wernberg you have the most beautiful view over the entire region.

Faaker Lake
Here you will find Caribbean flair in the middle of the Alps, and a dip in the turquoise waters is the perfect refreshment during the hike.

Burgarena Finkenstein
A breath-taking view of the region and Lake Faaker.

Castello di Duino in Italy
Finally, the sea has been reached! Perched on a karst rock high above the sea, with stunning views of the entire Gulf of Trieste, is Duino Castle.
