Steinwender Hut

Easy winter hike with a culinary stop at the Steinwender Hut.

Starting from the Kanzelbahn Bergstation, you go counterclockwise around the Sunn Alm restaurant, passing the public toilet and the toboggan hill. After the short climb up the toboggan hill you reach the storage pond. In winter, this is also where you will find the first signs for the Steinwenderhütte.

You now follow the signs on path no. 31 to the Steinwender Hut (=Steinwenderhütte) without changing direction. The wide forest path leads to the Steinwenderhütte without any significant differences in height and is also suitable for families.

After every snow fall the forest road to the Steinwender Hut is cleared as quickly as possible. However we recommend to take special winter hiking shoes with your. The route is easy, with no major differences in altitude and is signposted throughout. The exception is the first post, which always has to be dismantled due to works on the ski slope. The path is not suitable as a toboggan run!
