If you take a map with you, you can take a path from "rote Madonna" (red Madonna) upwards towards "Monte Coppa." This will be a beautiful trail that goes slightly up and down around the mountain until you reach the small clearing with the hut again. From the southside of the mountain here you can enjoy a gorgeous view of the Julian Alps.

From the valley station in Seltschach take the cable car gondola to the Seltschacher Alm (an alpine pasture), where you take the marked path (Nr. 603) to the the three-borders-crossing of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Follow the path marked "Dreiländerwanderweg" (Nr. 603/522) heading west and downhill until you reach a forrest road. Turn left (south) and cross the border to Italy, where you will see a small clearing and a hut (so called Felix-Hütte). From here you follow the signs towards "Madonna della Neve," take a forest road downhill until you reach a water fountain. Follow the way uphill and turn right after apr. 1 minute. Further uphill you can find a beautiful mountain meadow with alpine huts, built in Italian style. At the bottom of the meadow is the small chapel St. Mary of Snow (Kapelle Maria Schnee). To get back, follow the way back to the crossing before the chapel. There you turn right towards the direction of the "Red Madonna" and after a few turns you reach former barracks and the "Red Madonna". After that you need to follow the former military road uphill and then turn left into the narrow forest path (not marked) which leads back to the Felix-Hütte. There you need to follow the way (nr. 22) to you right (look for black-white markings), which leads through a slight ditch downhill to a forest road. There you cross the border to Slovenia. There are two possibilities for the way back to the starting point. If you have energy left then take way Nr. 18, right in the curve of the forest road follow the bended way uphill. Those who prefer to take it easy, select the slightly rising but longer forest road in the valley between the triangle and Seltschacher Alm. From there you follow the familiar path back to the mountain station.

Due to the three countries involved, there are also different signs along the way. There are improvements planned on the Italian side. The quality of the tracks is good - there might be more plants and trees around the Felix-Hütte. We advise you NOT to go round Monte Coppa, due to the bad condition of the tracks
